Join the Stage. This is the name of the development of the new VdMA site. It's an invitation, because we want to shape this place together with you. It will be a space that inspires and connects. Here, amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, you will find a serene spot for reflection. A thrilling location with deep historical roots and fertile ground for a bright future. Between village and city, people and nature, technology and craftsmanship - everyone is invited.

At VdMA, living, working, and inspiring are seamlessly integrated.  With 25% social housing, 45% mid-priced apartments, and short-stay apartments, VDMA contributes to a city center where everyone feels right at home. The old Lucifer factory and the Garage will be revitalized as modern workplaces where bright minds and creative spirits shape the future. After a day's work, you can stretch your legs on the roof of the Zusterflat, get some fresh air in the forest, or relax on the terrace.  Nestled between striking high-rises and the lush city forest lies the heart of the plan: The Stage. This central area will host a variety of programs for and by the community, in an environment that stimulates all the senses.

CITY FOREST

VdMA offers a native forest, bringing a touch of true Brabant nature to the area. This central city forest will serve as the foundation for a new urban ecosystem, playing a vital role in Eindhoven's green infrastructure. It will provide a green, livable space where people can retreat from the city's hustle and find peace and quiet.

THE STAGE

At the heart of VdMA, within Piet van der Meulen's old garage, you’ll find The Stage, which serves as Eindhoven's new urban living room. It's a space bustling with activities organized by and for Eindhoven residents. One day, The Stage might showcase a new innovation, while the next day it could feature a pop-up outdoor cinema, drone races, or simply a flea market.

PRESERVING HISTORY

The Chauffeur's House (1929) originally belonged to the ensemble of buildings of the Raiffeisenbank and will soon serve as the entrance to a new modern residential building. The Lucifer Factory (1880-1926) and the Garage (1929) evoke memories of Eindhoven’s origins as of the 'City of Light' and the emergence of car culture. These historical buildings will be carefully restored or reconstructed to become a welcoming urban space. The Zusterflat (1958) retains its distinctive appearance from the post-war reconstruction period and will be transformed a vibrant workspace.

THE LOOP

The Loop is a striking and recognizable public walking route highlighted by a stunning staircase, which leads up to the elevated public space on the Zusterflat. This feature creates a circuit within the VdMA site that entices visitors to explore technology, design, knowledge, culture, and entertainment. VdMA serves as a literal and figurative connector, facilitating interaction and movement across its diverse functions and buildings. This route, spanning over 400 meters, is accessible to the public during the day, enhancing connectivity both horizontally and vertically within the site.
